I too feel for Jewish people in our community. Just today the Whanganui District Council received a petition requesting they make a public statement calling for an immediate ceasefire in the current Israel/Palestine conflict. Councillors dutifully agreed. The presentation was made with great fanfare with a march through town, starting and ending outside an Israeli owned business. The business owner quietly closed his business and moved on for the duration. This same man has two family members missing after the 7 October attack. We’re a small community; the protesters surely knew his background.

How quickly we forget, "Lest we forget", 'Kristallnacht, the pogroms, show trials & persecution' of the Jews!

Let's throw in the Salem witch trials & all the other mob hooliganism, lynch parties in recent history!

We only just commemorated Anzac Day, which was also invaded by same said hooligans!

People who DON'T know their history, will repeat it!

Yes...an aspect of the partisanship many of us long-time news subscribers have noticed, particularly enhanced during Ardern's run. We don't prefer hyperbole over such incidents any more than clear bias by way of under-reporting. We crave fact-based reportage and when we want opinion we know where to look. At least there are multiple reportage/comment sources now. And you are dead right about NZ Greens disgraceful cheerleading for Hamas & abusive censorship of those in the women's rights sphere.

New Zealanders should be looking at the 'behaviour & actions' of politicians 'where possible', rather than what they say! The 'proof is in the pudding', not the 'ingredients/words' somewhere in the kitchen cupboards, or still in the supermarket they haven't bought yet! That is, they don't truly own their own words, because they are not LIVING them!

How many times have the Greens exposed themselves now, having this contradiction between 'Word & Deed'! Fundamentally they lack 'moral integrity' as exponents of the Left!

For Democracy to truly work, the voting public need to be well informed, & also to keep themselves well informed!

With the 'yellow journalism' we have now, incredibly biased & more about 'opinionated views & indoctrination' than actual objective news reporting, we are facing a 'crisis of reality & truth' in New Zealand, & also across the Western world! The 'Fourth Estate' has been hi-jacked & is a mess!

'Cultural Marxism' in its various guises has invaded our society, contrary to the Judeo-Christian worldview & culture built up over the last 2000 years! 'Non-science & biology' is being forced down our throats & our children's throats at school & through the Main Stream Media! Where have all the PhD's in science gone?

If you think Karl Marx knew more than Jesus & what he brought to the world, then go ahead & vote Labour & the Greens if you want 'immature Marxists' running & ordering your lives! ('Lord of the Flies')

New Zealanders need to wake up & SEE what is going on in their own country, & those politicians who know the 'truth', need to speak up before we become a 'One Party Communist state'!

They are not doing us any favours by keeping silent, treating us like children who 'can't handle the truth'!

For Democracy to work, there needs to be 'TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY' daily, & we need to be awake, engaged, & holding politicians to account!

Simon protesting the genocide in Gaza is not about intimidating Jewish people. There are plenty of Jewish people who agree the attacks are wrong. You seem to care more about unborn humans than the multitude of young ones killed or maimed and or facing life without parental protection.

Thanks for the comment. Many in the Jewish community here in New Zealand say different. I also care about all those who are vulnerable including those innocently caught up in Gaza; the unborn as you mention; but also the 1100+ Israeli's butchered by Palestinians and hundreds taken hostage. I don't pick and choose.

If Hamas & its supporters are serious about a ceasefire, return the hostages & fully renounce their intent to destroy Israel!

If Hamas supporters want to talk about colonisation, then think about how come there are aprox 50 Muslim nations in the world! How did that happen?

Research the Ottoman Empire & its colonial & expansionist practices!

Since Muhammed, they have conquered & terrorised people into submission, including Jews & Christians!

Their agenda hasn't changed!

Knowing history is important!
