I too feel for Jewish people in our community. Just today the Whanganui District Council received a petition requesting they make a public statement calling for an immediate ceasefire in the current Israel/Palestine conflict. Councillors dutifully agreed. The presentation was made with great fanfare with a march through town, starting and ending outside an Israeli owned business. The business owner quietly closed his business and moved on for the duration. This same man has two family members missing after the 7 October attack. We’re a small community; the protesters surely knew his background.

Yes...an aspect of the partisanship many of us long-time news subscribers have noticed, particularly enhanced during Ardern's run. We don't prefer hyperbole over such incidents any more than clear bias by way of under-reporting. We crave fact-based reportage and when we want opinion we know where to look. At least there are multiple reportage/comment sources now. And you are dead right about NZ Greens disgraceful cheerleading for Hamas & abusive censorship of those in the women's rights sphere.
