If the previous law was bad, if not incomprehensible, it should be thrown out! For me it's the inconsistency of this Govt's decision making that is the real problem!

Money being wasted on so called dubious Treaty Settlements, the existence of the Waitangi Tribunal, & the Maorification of New Zealand! There's billions to be saved right there!

Luxon is happy to go along with that 'activist agenda', but then goes after a soft target having 'more' credibility than the former!

It's the hypocrisy & double standards that is really galling, & will see National gone next election, only to have something worse replace them as in Canada & Australia voting WOKE!

National has to stop being the party of arrogance & stupidity! They are their own worse enemies, devoid of self awareness & reflection!

Their 'moral high ground' is the economy/mammon, NOT morality & ethics, as so for the Left.

We are facing a 'moral ethical crisis', more that anything else! That's our biggest problem!

All these parties are godless, paying lip service to just about every human metric for decency there is!

I believe I heard the Australian prime minister speak of kindness and respect - if that is what you call "woke", then I am all for it. Better than the callousness of our present lot.

Jacinda Ardern also spoke of 'kindness & respect'! Words are cheap!

Following a severe Stroke last year, my wife now requires 24/7 assistance as she is paralysed on her left side and is in a wheelchair. We have 3 female carers who help us for 35 hours per week and they are paid between $24 and $29 per hour. All three have young children and 2 are sole parents running their households on their own. One is a trained Nurse, one is in training to become a Nurse and is also a trained First Responder. They work weekends and holidays without penal rates. Their employer is under pressure to reduce costs.

We have bludgers and parasites being paid $4M to ‘help’ Kauri trees and government departments that spend money like there’s no tomorrow. What’s wrong with this picture?

Thanks for sharing Jim and sounds like your wife is in good care, but it also illustrates the need.

Thank you Simon for showing the utter foolishness of this move. A country where the serfs and vassals can be treated with impunity! As other comments have it, there is money to be saved in plain sight. How many Education Ministry back roomers are there planning how to pervert our school children? Trump does not get everything right by any means, but he certainly knew this was the first thing to stop!

seems the most obvious savings are the ones obviously ignored!

While apparently we are $190 billion in debt and Luxon is sending millions to Ukraine, millions to pushing the Maori agenda and the hoax of climate change …I certainly am not happy how he is “taking us down”! Even his stance on DEI is disturbing! What is he here for! Treason much?

there are certainly no shortage of options to find savings. As I note, I don't particularly like the pay equity law but how they have gone about changing things bothers me.

I agree! It’s all such a worry isn’t it!

Good thoughts Harrison. Pay equity is something that most impacts those on the lowest wages - hence how this has been handled by secrecy and haste - does not look good at all.
