Right on the mark Simon. Especially the name suppression . The guilty persons abuse was done very publicly with lots of photos. He was very public about what he did. So he should be upfront now .

The judgement was pathetic

Precisely. His face is even public due to the video evidence of the attack. Personally, I feel name suppression used far too often.

Thanks for this Simon - you’ve articulated the issues perfectly. The counter protests at the Posie Parker event were violent enough - but imagine what they’d be like now that the NZ courts have green-lit the idea that it’s ok to hurt people who don’t share the same views as you (and you’ll even get to remain anonymous).

Thanks Simon, clear and sad at the same time. This judge should be under performance management immediately. AI capabilities are a cheaper option than this weak high paid drip!

A custodial sentence should have been imposed as the level of harm to the woman is ongoing. She will live with the pain and distress and have ptsd for her lifetime.
