I can’t see Harris being the successful nominee. While the DNC is as enamoured by DEI as our Greens, the DNC also know the broad base of Americans aren’t so much, and Harris was explicitly a DEI appointment. She has made gaff after gaff as VP and the public see her as weak and ineffective – Harris has consistently polled as much less popular than Biden by a from the start (and Biden has polled historically low).

My money is on Newsom – a rich, good looking Californian is as irresistible to the Dems as Justin Trudeau was to the Canadians, despite their poor respective track records.

I think a key driver is going to be money and while much discussion, it seems that all the monies raised by Biden can go to her campaign with little fuss - as compared to others.

You have been proven correct! I think this will work in the Dem’s favour though as Harris is so unpopular with voters.

Tosh, you’re on the money most of the time. Keep up the great work ❤️

Perhaps we should also be asking, that if Harris is good enough to be candidate, then why can't she simply take over as president right away? At least then we could all see her qualities and vote either for or against her in the Novem. election on that basis?

Partly they want to keep her 100% campaign focused; leave the ‘daily grind’ to Biden (or rather, whoever(s) running the show. Plus she have to make decisions if President.

I also expected Biden to hold on... at least for another week. It seems very odd that Biden would make the announcement first on X. Perhaps the blob that runs the country wrote it and told Biden he did it!

As to Harris being the nominee, I wouldn't be taking odds on her and suspect that either Newson the governor of the failed state of California or Michelle Obama will be parachuted in to at least give the Dems a slim chance. However, my understanding is this would be legally problematic as the donations were to the Biden/Harris ticket.

So the remaining question needs to be around funding a campaign for anyone but Harris... and I'll bet the Dems will find a way to do that if it means remaining in power to protect their butts from teflon Don.

Thanks, Simon. Good column. However, you may have to admit you're wrong again when Kamala Harris is not selected as the candidate.

Biden war chest does transfer to her so maybe she's safe but the Trump campaign is already roasting her in ads for being prominent in the cover-up of Biden's frailties. To me, she looks like a liability.

Thanks Graham. Is that transfer automatic? I suppose it was the Biden-Harris ticket, but I see much commentary around various legal considerations. All said, I’m no American law expert. As for selection and early hours, but I’m looking for who is going to challenge her. Granted, always happy to admit when I get things wrong … so let’s see what the coming days bring 😇

Initial media reports are that because the money was raised for both Biden and her, as you say, she can use it for what is now her campaign for the presidency. But it wouldn't be the US if there wasn't extensive legal wrangling in train.

I strongly suggest you read Veronika West's post ….JOKER JOE AND QUEEN OF HEARTS KAMALA HARRIS; THE BALANCING ACT IS IN FULL SWING…. either on Facebook or HisKingdomProphecy.com. Very accurate prophetess with the right heart.

My suggestion to the Republicans over the coming months is to totally forget about and ignore Harris who will be just another puppet leader like Biden. My recommendation would be to focus their political attack 100% on exposing, and naming and shaming, the nefarious actors for the Deep State, White House, and the MSM puppeteers that have been pulling the strings for Biden and the Democrats over the last few years, with particular focus on the primary protagonist and resident of 31st Street NW, Kalorama, in Washington DC.

I'd welcome them also just focusing on good policy - let Kamala talk about whatever, but for the GOP to talk economy, jobs, security. I thought in the last debate between Biden and Trump, a missed opportunity to step away from all the personal attacks and talk to what matters to people/listeners.

The only problem is that, similarly to here in NZ, the majority of the general public get all their political narrative from a very biased left-leaning MSM. The debate provided a very clear message to all Americans, exactly what a cot-case Biden was, which led to him standing down. No doubt if there is a debate with Harris, which I doubt will happen, it would similarly give an opportunity for the American public to see exactly what an absolute air-head this woman is! The scary thing is the similarities to what happening over there to what happened here with the Labour Party here when they chose an "air-head" as their leader just prior to an election. The world can only pray that their election result is not the same!!

Sadly, Harris is just another example of America being unable to unearth anyone remotely up to the worlds most important political position. Chosen by Biden for the simple reason she was a) a woman and b) she is black. They can have any colour or gender they like, but that doesn't make for competency. Testing times ahead, not only for America, but those who have to deal with them !
