What a wonderful read and insight into the ways societies use scapegoats- and recent examples in our own - as well as an introduction to Girard. Appetite definitely whetted to read more. Thankyou Simon.

Conflict, greed, desire, lust for power and maintaining it. History repeats because human nature doesn't change.

Yep, though Girard was hopeful that by exposing what drives much of this behaviour, we might one day change. Might!

Girard would appear to have been an optimist!

Evolution is a wonderful concept, but it's yet to prove itself as the panacea to the negative aspects of human nature.

He was in many ways - or more accurately, he good see the major issues in human nature, but hopeful we could improve.

Having also studied philosophies that was an intriguinh insight. I have both read J.D. Vsnce's book and recommended it as well as his practical implementation in his life and his entry into politics to make changes...for the better...for child safeguarding inter alia. A refreshing contrast to the democrats adoption of and promotion of unhealthy gender cult. Walz legislation is nearer to genocide ( fullterm.abortions etc)than others. Kamala in California promoted free surgeries for men with desire...to go into women's estate.

Walz and Harris show no consistency of thinking at all - only an adherence to modern 'social justice' which I would argue is neither social nor just.

There has just been published in USA by a trans grouo a piece saying 'Trump's claim aboit trans kids is pure, bizarre fiction.' Comments'

at the annual summit of Moms for Liberty.' The first comment "Railing against the inclusion of trans women in eomen's sports he brought up Iman K again."...secindly "The school decides...T said And msny of thrse chn 15 years later say, what the hell happened?" The reply is "It's fsirly easybto categoricslly state this is not happening.

Beyond pbs most trans care requires 16 or older" well those responses are wring.

Sorry lost link to article but it is searchable. Thosevof us in thos fight have stats and links to legislation and interviews with detrans which prove the reality.
