I don't agree with all her views, but INZ's stance snacks if censorship

We perhaps need a snack 😂😇

Time for all the leftist bureaucrats to be canned

The system definitely needs a shake up, including that so many decisions are being made by this 'managerial class' that no one voted for, or knows who they are. Parliament needs to take responsibility including for delegating so much power to them.

One of the signs of civilizational decline, if Iain McGilchrist is to be believed (and I believe him). He's the author of two massive books but can be accessed more easily in numerous YouTube interviews eg Unherd.

I heard it was the “young Labour” organisation- or whatever they are - that pushed for this! I fear for our kids future with all this woke from the looney left and weakness from the so called ELECTED ones in the hive!

Certainly was. The poor little babies can’t cope with ideas.

Poor wee lovies!…I walk through Memorial park each Friday when I pick up my grandkids from school…walk past all the names of the soldiers that fought in the wars and died!…and feel so very sad for them and what they fought for! For us! Today, they have no idea!! 😓

Immigration NZ is yet another government agency whose officials are politically biased against conservative views and have weaponised the department to persecute their ideological enemies, as in denying entry to those whose opinions they disapprove of

Who the hell do they think they are trying to control free speech this way. This government needs to put a stop to the lingering legacy of the jacinda years, not allow it to continue.

Great post Simon -New Zealand can and should do better in the freedoms space - even for the people we don't agree with.

Expand full comment

Precisely. We don’t have to agree, but we should allow people to speak.

Have you heard of audience capture? I've heard this theory suggested a lot in the last few years to explain why 'celebrity' commentators like Candace Owens become increasingly outrageous as they gain fame and status.

This is a good summary https://www.gurwinder.blog/p/the-perils-of-audience-capture but basically the theory is that content creators can get stuck in a destructive feedback loop where they pander to the most extreme views of their audience to drive engagement.

I hadn’t, so this is useful.

I suspect many of the accusations made against Candace Owens are just slurs & misrepresentations of what she actually said, as they do with Donald Trump all the time!

How 'weak & pathetic' have we become, too scared to cause offense to anyone! We may have changed Govt, but it seems our PM carries many of the same stripes as the former Labour Govt!

Too scared to debate the 'Treaty of Waitangi', too scared to listen to someone with a different viewpoint, whilst WE are expected to when it comes to the 'Progressive Woke Agenda' & all things Maori! That's 'totalitarianism' in the making!

Luxon is going to lose many of his National Party supporters, & David Seymour will be the beneficiary of their vote!

The Left & the Lite-Right will collapse shortly when people understand that true patriotism, love for one country is borne out of 'sacrifice', & the 'hard work' of many New Zealanders, which outranks 'race & ancestry'!

Only when you invest in your country, can you claim any kind of 'ownership' of it! Otherwise you are just a 'tourist, a spectator', regardless of how long you or your ancestors have been here!

Naturally the Marxist Left Wing cabal don't want Candace coming to speak!

We grow up largely with very 'simplistic thinking'; Cowboy - good , Indian (Native American) -bad!

That's because we are all very 'tribal' in our thinking as borne out in rugby when 'our team' plays 'their team'!

Same is true for religion, race, political parties & so forth! Candace is black but if she speaks 'conservatively' she is disowned by a portion of the black community! Potentially being called a 'white supremacist'!

Which tells you it's NOT about race, skin colour, but what you 'think & believe'!

The Marxist 'dialectic' is all about divide & conquer!

Pit people against one another so they will fight each other, & then move in to conquer the now weak & compromised 'thesis'/opposition!

Remember, under Communism, 150 million people were murdered by the Mao, Lenin/Stalin, Pol Pot regimes! Given 70 years of Soviet rule & still the CCP ruling today, that figure will be a lot higher!

We have conveniently or ignorantly turned a blind eye or forgotten about that reality, which is truly a problem because that evil reality has not gone away! It is operating in NZ today courtesy of the Left-wing cabal in Government!

Not allowing Candace entry into NZ to speak is symptomatic of that 'pervading oppressive thought, ideology = Communism = Totalitarianism!

We will just get more of that as the Left justify their position courtesy of INZ!

If she can be blocked, that means anyone else who talks like her should be blocked, cancelled, arrested, imprisoned!

It creates a 'precedent', which is what they are after! Do it to her, do it to anyone!

That's what happens when you have weak 'conservative leadership'! They spend their time in office acquiescing & compromising as when Simon showed support for Roe vs Wade being overturned! Naughty boy! Smack!

Does Simon not have a right to express that, given that the Left in Parliament mostly applauded Perenara's re-jigged Haka, & the Maori Party's 'Kapa Haka' performance in Parliament! They didn't want to censure those involved!

Luxon is weak, & he needs a 'rev up' so he can understand who he is meant to be representing, & who voted for him! It wasn't a bunch of 'left wing radicals'!

Someone needs to sit down with Chris & read the 'Treaty of Waitangi' with him, like those kids at school getting an hour's reading everyday!

That is one of the reasons why we have such a 'politically correct, woke, unthinking' young people today, who go on Hikois without a clue what it's all about! This is just the 'reptilian brain' being activated!

At this rate Luxon will be a 'one term wonder', or he will be replaced by someone who can read the room!

BTW, don't worry about how the media score the politicians, they are the most mismotivated, irrelevant people around!

Furthermore, not everyone can be in the headlines!

Let’s start a few rumours: -

INZ banned Candace because she is black.

INZ banned Candace because she is a woman identifying as a woman.

INZ banned Candace because she is an American citizen.

One or more will probably gain traction - the reason INZ has given is equally preposterous after all.

More and more I feel like the country is turning into the Democratic Republic of Aotearoa. Our bureaucracy and judiciary DRAgging us towards our glorious future while the masses leave the kicking and screaming until it is too late. I hope I’m just being a tad pessimistic…

I worry at times too. The current trajectory is not positive.

A proud black woman? Why? She should not be banned, but being a proud anything-white woman, elf, gnome or whatever, is no reccomendation.

Agree but my point is that progressives make so much of ‘who’ a person is, but in this case ignore it because of her politics.

This post is pure right wing. I believe Candace was banned because NZ doesn’t want her politics poisoning their country. And her politics are most definitely poison. Her ilk have sent the US into a tailspin and far left politics are not damaging peoples way of thinking like the rwnj. Even reading the comments made me want to vomit. All about ‘freedoms’. Maga isn’t about freedoms it’s about restrictions ( to all but white men)

What a nonsense! The gist of Owen's commentary is about not playing the 'victim card' & 'cry bullying' everyone, whoever that might be!

Her worldview I believe is one based on 'meritocracy', not skin colour & identity politics! That's not poison, that's refreshing! cont'd:

Attributing value to someone based on their 'identity' is in itself 'elitist, dangerous & very superficial'!

That's when you end up with racist comments like, "If you don't vote for me, you are not black"! - Joe Biden??

Well said! You took the words right out of my mouth, except that yours are more eloquent than mine are likely to be. I have never listened to Owens except for a brief look at a YouTube clip, but I've certainly been checking her out since this news broke. I wonder how many thousands of NZers are doing the same 😄

Your comments regarding the “Holocaust” are a little uninformed. As with everything from evolution to climate change, all contoversial issues (and perhaps some that are not) generally have scope for a range of justifiable and sincerely held views. In regard to the “six million” trope, it was around in Jewish mythology for centuries. There was dark talk of this number of people to be killed. WWII became an opportune time to claim its fulfillment. However, when you do the research, analysis and arithmetic, the numbers do not add up. Most telling is the fact that the numbers of dead associated with various camps have been significantly and publicly revised downwards (with official memorial plaques being replaced) but, mysteriously, the headline total number quoted has never altered. There were more than six million Christians, as a subgroup, and certainly many times more than six million of other ethnic groups, killed by brutal regimes in the 20th century, but we don’t get a look-in when it comes to international sympathy and headlines. Perhaps it is because Jesus told us that we would be persecuted, its there in black-and-white in the most popular book in the world, so we don’t go on about it like the professional victim classes of the world.

PS: I would not bother putting this comment on other social media (I have done similar before, and they don’t survive). It will be interesting to see what happens on Substack.
