As usual -intelligently written and very much agree.

Points out some of the basics as to why we cannot seem to get serious behaviour from our political system.

Its a broken model we have been using for a long time!

MMP does not work under its current configuration.

Leadership (from whoever) appears weak and ineffective.

Voter apathy is high because of it.

The Media continues to undermine normal behaviour and doubles down promoting bad political behaviour.

And gets away with it!

Most Kiwis can see much of this all and dont like it whichever way one votes.

And can also see that nobody is willing to confront these issues on New Zealanders behalf.

The people running the system (politicians and staffers) have not realised that the system itself creates the “Lack of Trust” in it and them.

Its probably time to re-configure MMP.

I remember similar problems under FPP. In Labour in the 70s the further up the commitee structure the more importance your opinion. At the bottom we never had much say in what the leaders decided.

Leaders like Prebble had fully formed opinions. I don't think many MPs have their own opinions now
