Back on Q+A, and interviewing on radio
The last few days has seen me on Q+A with Jack Tame, while also doing my own interviews with others on RCR and podcasts.
Hi everyone. You will excuse the relative silence in my Substack over the last few days. My wonderful father, Rory, passed away recently so as you would expect, there has been much time saying farewell and supporting my family. The passing of loved ones is quite personal and so I won’t be writing on this, but I will say that he was a good man. As I noted in his eulogy, I think to be called ‘a good man’ (or woman!) is the highest of epithets. He will be missed.
As I get back to the keyboard, I thought I would quickly share some recent media - both where I am being interviewed and also where I am doing the interviewing. You see, I am balanced!!
ON Q+A WITH JACK TAME
I was asked to come onto Q+A last Sunday to talk with Jack Tame about the current review into euthanasia. It was a welcome opportunity to explain my thoughts on why the current law is not working as well as proponents suggest.
As with my last Substack- Alarm Bells, there are a range of views on the ethics of euthanasia/assisted suicide. As with my chat with Jack, my key point was that there are already issues with how the law is working - from the Ministry of Health making mistakes to the review panel struggling to have full membership. As some push for an expansion of the euthanasia framework, I think we need to be both aware of the current issues with the law while also being aware of the risks that will inevitably come with expansion.
You can check out our chat below:
If you want to have your say on the euthanasia review, currently being conducted by the Ministry of Health, you can do so here. Note, you need to do so by this Thursday (26th)
ACADEMIC FREEDOM IS GOING OUT THE WINDOW …
As you may know, I do a weekly online radio show with RCR - every Friday morning from 10am to midday. Last week I had Dr James Kierstead from the NZ Initiative join me. He has recently published a report highlighting the increasing - and worrying - limitations being put on academic freedom in our universities.
We also discuss how those on the progressive left deny any good - or even the existence - of Western Civilization, and yet they spend all their time attacking it.
You can listen to my interview with Dr Kierstead here.
I’ve had a load of other guests as well, so just head over to the RCR page to listen - everything from individuals and groups doing amazing work in our community, to what is happening in the United States or Middle East - and everything else in-between!
PODCASTS AND MORE!
As you will also know, I do podcasts for Family First as well as a series of Live panel events each week.
In recent weeks I have podcasted on everything from whether Maori ceded sovereignty, abortion reversal pills, to marriage … and just about everything else in-between! You can find the podcasts here.
I also mentioned a variety of LIVEs that I do each week. You can access these - and also participate by sending your questions for me or the panel to answer - on Family First’s Facebook or my own page , Youtube, LinkedIn, and X. The shows include:
StraightTalk - Monday nights, 8pm; a panel show that I am frequently on along with the likes of Bob McCoskrie, Peter Williams, and Rodney Hide.
Solid Ground - Tuesday mornings, 8am. My own show where I talk the political and cultural issues of the last few days and take your questions live on air.
Political Playback - Thursday afternoons, 5pm. Bob McCoskrie and I look back over the major political stories of the last week.
I am writing my next Substack as we speak, and I look forward to sharing with you all in the coming days. Stay tuned as well for an upcomign podcast with Finnish MP - Päivi Räsänen - who is before her country’s highest court for quoting the bible (I’m not kidding!!); as well as an exclusive interview with John Anderson - the former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia.
Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing, Simon. Wish you and the Family every strength and happy memories to quell the burning tears.
